Study of intercalation properties of electrode materials based on expanded graphite
Vencelides, Lukáš ; Máca, Josef (referee) ; Libich, Jiří (advisor)
The diploma thesis deals with the issue of electrochemical cells and deals in detail with lithium-ion batteries. The thesis describes the history of development of lithium-ion batteries, basic information about lithium and basic types of electrochemical cells. The work is devoted in detail to the description of characteristics and operating principle of lithium-ion batteries with emphasis on the negative electrode and negative electrode materials. Of the negative electrode materials, both the most widely used material graphite and modern materials with a great potential for the future are described. In the measurement methods the work describes methods CV, GCPL and EIS. Great emphasis is placed on the explanation of the principle of the function of electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and its application in measurement of electrochemical properties of materials used in lithium-ion batteries. There is also described the procedure of calculation of diffusion coefficients using the results of electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. In the practical part, two methods are used to calculate the diffusion coefficients of lithium ions into the negative electrode made of expanded flake graphite using the results of a series of electrochemical measurements.

Zwischenraum and Denkraum in the context of ascent and fall in the Mnemosyne Atlas of Aby M. Warburg
Váša, Ondřej ; Petříček, Miroslav (advisor) ; Vojvodík, Josef (referee) ; Konečný, Lubomír (referee)
The doctoral thesis focuses on the Warburg's concept of thought space [Denkraum] and the related concept of artistic creation as an interface between the affections and abstract thinking [Zwischenraum], representing the key concepts of his late work (especially between the years 1920- 1929), culminating in the pictorial atlas Mnemosyne. In this context, the thesis focuses on the motive of ascent as well, and concludes that the pathos formula of ascent plays a crucial historical role in the constitution of modern Denkraum and forms one of the fundamental constitutive parameters of the thought-space, whose own metaphorical perspective is the contemporary aviation. For an adequate reflection of the historical development of this Denkraum, Warburg turns to the physical models of thought and artistic creation, including an attempt to use Einstein's theories of relativity. The key role of the motive of ascent in the constitution of Denkraum subsequently shapes this thought space within the confines of Renaissance humanism.
"Library as a Mirror of the Mind" - The Conception of the Warburg Library
Johanidesová, Tereza ; Šípek, Richard (advisor) ; Sladká, Veronika (referee)
Bachelor thesis focuses on the research library, founded by a significant German art historian and historian of culture, Aby Warburg. The Library was originally located in Hamburg as Kulturwissenschaftliche Bibliothek Warburg. Before the 2nd World War, the Library was forced to change its residence into London where it became the department (The Warburg Institute) of the University of London. The thesis outlines shortly the history of Library in the context of Aby Warburg's life and his scientific work. The next chapters are devoted to the description of Library's classification scheme and the organization of books based on the open shelves system, both in the connection with Warburg's scholarly methods. Within the scope of these issues, the deeper analysis of the term "research library", which was not so far discussed adequately in Czech librarian discourse, is done. Some of the strategies and rules coined by Aby Warburg for the purposes of efficiency of open acces book collection are closely clarified - "the law of good neighbourhood", serendipity, and others.
Warburg effect in lymph gland of Drosophila melanogaster upon parasitoid wasp infection
STRASSER, Paul
The aim of this thesis was to develop an ex vivo set-up for the measurement of lactate and adenosine produced by the lymph gland of Drosophila melanogaster and to measure the difference in concentration between infected and uninfected larvae using a parasitoid wasp infection by Leptopilina boulardi to further understand the metabolic switch and its needs during the onset of the immune system.
